Sneak peek: May 2012 new royalty books

Lots of new books about royalty — including an interesting batch of historical novels — will be making their way to book stores next month! Here's a sneak peek. (Publication dates are subject to change.)

The Queen: A Life in Brief by Robert Lacey. Biography with insights from Queen Elizabeth's friends, relatives, private secretaries and prime ministers.

Eleanor de Montfort by Louise Wilkinson. Biography. As sister of Henry III, Eleanor de Montfort was at the heart of the conflict between the Crown and English barons.

The Tudors: History of a Dynasty by David Loades. An overview of the complete Tudor dynasty.

The Palace and the Bunker: Royal Resistance to Hitler by Frank Millard. A study of the role of German and Austrian royals in Hitler's defeat.

Four Sisters, All Queens by Sherry Jones. Fiction. Raised amid the lush valleys of Provence, Marguerite, Eléonore, Sanchia, and Beatrice are all destined to become queens.

Bring Up the Bodies: A Novel by Hilary Mantel. Henry VIII is disenchanted with Anne Boleyn, and Thomas Cromwell is ready to bring her down. But what price will he pay for Anne's head? (This is a sequel to award-winning novel Wolf Hall.)

If I could only read one of these books, I'd pick the one about Eleanor de Montfort because I want to learn more about that era of history. Which book would you choose?
