Un-sneak peek: July 2012 new royalty books

It's a bit late for a sneak peek at July's new royalty books since July's more than a week old, but I thought I'd highlight some of the month's notable new books, anyway. So here are seven new titles scheduled for publication in July (publication dates, as always, are subject to change).

For more about these and other new royalty books, visit the Royal Books page on Royalty.nu.

King John: An Underrated King by Graham E. Seel. Analyzes the Magna Carta, relations with the church, civil war, and other issues of the English king's reign.

Mary Rose by David Loades. Biography of Henry VIII's rebellious younger sister.

Shooting Victoria: Madness, Mayhem, and the Rebirth of the British Monarchy by Paul Thomas Murphy. No fewer than eight attempts were made on Queen Victoria's life. This book follows the would-be assassins and the repercussions of their actions.

Jubilee! Queen Elizabeth II: 60 Years on the Throne by the editors of LIFE Magazine. Photos of the current Jubilee and prior House of Windsor celebrations, including Victoria's 60th Jubilee, Elizabeth's wedding, and the marriage of William and Catherine.

The Queen's Diamonds by Hugh Roberts. Authorized book about Queen Elizabeth's diamond collection with 300 full-color photographs.

Russia's First Civil War by Chester S. L. Dunning. The Time of Troubles and the founding of the Romanov dynasty.

Mistress of Mourning by Karen Harper. Fiction. Suspecting that her son Prince Arthur was murdered, Elizabeth of York asks a young widow to investigate.

If I could only read one of these books, I would pick the one about King John, although I'd also like to read the biography of Tudor princess Mary Rose. Which book(s) which you choose?
