Royals on Forbes "Most Powerful People" list 2012

Two royals made it onto Forbes Magazine's 2012 list of the "World's Most Powerful People." The king of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz al Saud, ranks #7. Forbes says, "The absolute monarch of the desert kingdom controls 20% of the world's known oil reserves and guards Islam's holiest cities."

The other royal figure on the list, at #33, is Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, emir of Abu Dhabi and president of the United Arab Emirates. According to Forbes, Sheikh Khalifa controls "97.8 billion barrels of proven reserves" and "also runs the world's second-largest sovereign wealth fund."

In case you're wondering, Queen Elizabeth II currently ranks at #26 on Forbes' annual list of the "World's Most Powerful Women," meaning she's still far less powerful, according to Forbes, than pop singer Lady Gaga.

Other royals on the Powerful Women list for 2012 include Lubna Khalid Al Qasimi, a member of the ruling family of Sharjah in the UAE, and Sheikha Mayassa Al Thani, a daughter of the emir of Qatar.
