Princess Madeleine, the 30-year-old daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, married Christopher O'Neill today in the Royal Chapel of the Royal Palace in Stockholm. Mr. O'Neill, a securities analyst, is a citizen of both the United States and the United Kingdom. He is 38 years old.
The bride's wedding dress, designed by Valentino, was pleated silk organza with a lace upper bodice and a four-meter train (over 13 feet long).
Along with relatives of the bride and groom, guests of honor at the wedding included Britain's Earl and Countess of Wessex; Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie; Princess Takamado of Japan; the Hereditary Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg; Princess Charlene of Monaco; and Norway's Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Märtha Louise and Ari Behn.
After the wedding, the bride and groom were taken by horse and carriage from the Royal Palace of Stockholm to Riddarholmen, a small island in central Stockholm.
