American billionaire sells his Napoleon III collection

American billionaire Christopher Forbes has decided to auction off his collection of items from the Second French Empire. Here Forbes is shown standing between portraits of French emperor Napoleon III and his wife, Empress Eugénie.


Below: a uniform that belonged to the emperor's son, the Prince Imperial. A certificate from the religious wedding of Napoleon I to his first wife, Josephine, will also be sold at the auction, along with over 2,000 other art objects, paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, photographs and more.
