Sneak peek: November 2016 new royalty books

November is almost here, and with it a raft of new books on royal topics! Here's your sneak peek. (As always, publication dates are subject to change.)

Fit for a Queen by Melissa Leventon. Includes photographs of many of the outfits French couturier Pierre Balmain designed for Thailand's Queen Sirikit during their 22-year-long association.

Ptolemy I by Ian Worthington. A biography of the Macedonian founder of Egypt's royal Ptolemaic dynasty.

Æthelred the Unready by Levi Roach. The Anglo-Saxon king Æthelred (978-1016) is infamous for his failures, but this book suggests he has been maligned.

Summer of Blood by Dan Jones. In the summer of 1381, the people of England rose up against 14-year-old King Richard II.

Game of Queens by Sarah Gristwood. A group biography of 16th century European queens, including Isabella of Castile, Catherine de Medici, and Mary Queen of Scots.

Victoria: The Queen by Julia Baird. A biography that draws on previously unpublished papers.

The full list of November's new royalty books will appear on the Royalty.nu Books page next month. But don't wait till then — you can visit the page right now to see what's new for September and October.

If I could only read one of the books listed above, I would probably pick Summer of Blood for the simple reason that the title makes it sound anything but dull. Which book would you choose?

  1. If I have a choice, I would select Ptolemy I, Ethelred the Unready, Summer of Blood, and Victoria: The Queen. 😉
