Sneak peek at December 2018 new royalty books

It's almost December already! Here's your sneak peek at next month's new royalty books. (As always, publication dates are subject to change.)

Soldier, Priest, and God by F. S. Naiden. A biography that focuses on the role of religion in Alexander the Great's life and career.

King and Outlaw by Chris Brown. The life of Scotland's unconventional military genius Robert the Bruce.

A Genealogy of Dissent by Eugene Y. Park. In early modern Korea, the Choson state conducted an extermination campaign against descendants of the preceding Koryo dynasty.

The Caesar of Paris by Susan Jaques. A cultural history of Napoleon Bonaparte's fascination with ancient Rome and the Caesars.

The Gown by Jennifer Robson. Fictional account of embroiderers chosen to work on the wedding dress of Britain's future queen Elizabeth II.

For the full list of new royalty books, visit the Books page in December. Or, better yet, take a sneak peek at the page right now to see all the new books published in October and November!

If I could only read one of the books listed above, I would probably pick The Caesar of Paris to learn how Napoleon modeled himself on the Caesars. Which book would you choose?

  1. Hello Cinderella and Fellow Esteemed Ladies and Lords,

I would like to announce the release of a fun and fascinating new card game, The life of Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots on It's been a few years since I have done a new game with a Royal Theme, but I simply had to with the December 7 release of the movie about her life. What a story! I think you'll agree – the game Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots really captures the essence of her life (at least as much as a game can).

I'd be happy to send you a complimentary copy for your enjoyment. Just let me know if you still live at the same address. I trust your nephew still enjoys games!

    Warmest Regards Always,

  2. Dear Cinderella,

Thank you. I totally understand the level off effort that goes into a review. I didn't expect that… Just wanted to send you a holiday gift. The offer stands.

Say, are you going to do a post on the December 7 release of Mary Queen of Scots? I am hosting an opening night party at my house in Dallas prior to the showing. Scottish food and all.

Happy holidays to you and your Royal Court.

  3. Sorry that I missed your comment till now! I am not blogging much these days. That movie does look like it's going to be popular — hope you had a good time at your party!
