Problem with images

PicApp has replaced many of the photos on my sites with random images of Burger King, the rock star Prince, the rock group Queen, and so forth. I am working on removing all traces of PicApp from my sites, but it will take a day or two. In the meantime, my apologies for any stupid photos you may encounter.

Blog redesign

This blog is being redesigned, so things will be in disarray for a little while. Everything should be back to normal shortly.

A new, perhaps improved, look

If you're a regular visitor to the blog, you'll probably notice that I've changed the header image. What can I say: I'm fickle.

Well, actually, I changed the image to match the new beige background color, and I changed that because the previous purple background, while quite royal, made it hard to read the blog's text while the rest of the blog was taking its sweet time loading… OK, never mind, let's just go back to calling me fickle.

I fear the blog title doesn't show up very well against the new image, but I can't find a title color that works better with that image. Aargh. Also, I'm wondering if the blog has too many colors going on now…? I'd hate to kill the pink/purple in the sidebar, but should I??? Oh, dear. I should, shouldn't I.

Obviously I am not a design guru. If you have an opinion about this new look, good or bad, please share it. Or feel free to simply point at the blog and laugh heartily.

In case you're wondering, the new header image is from an 1815 painting of Heidelberg Castle by Carl Philipp Fohr. According to Wikimedia Commons, it is in the public domain.

A blog makeover

I've changed this blog's theme, but I'm not sure I like it… do you? All comments welcome. Unless millions love this, I might just change it again.

Give the people what they want

I don't have anything to post today, so I thought I'd write another entry about interesting search terms that have brought people to this blog, and provide links to the things they were seeking.

But there's a problem. I can't find some of these things, either!

Let's start with one I do know:

the duchness relation to rolaty
Aha, I say wisely. This person wants to know about the connections between the 18th century's Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire — subject of the Keira Knightley movie "The Duchess" — and the current British royal family. And as it happens, two modern princesses — Beatrice and Eugenie — are reportedly direct descendants of Georgiana.

Now for the ones I can't answer:

Princess diana respectable mother and wife
The Charles/Diana fan wars are still raging on royalty forums, so you can find plenty of people to argue for or against this statement. Personally, I'm not getting involved.

joke "about a king"
Um… why did the king cross the road? To get to the other side! Well, OK, I admit that's not a very good joke. If someone out there knows a better joke about a king, please share it in the comments.

"i was napoleon" song lyrics
I tried, but I can't find a song like this. So instead here's a 1911 recording of "I'm Henery The Eighth." It's not even about the real Henry VIII, but it will have to do.

Display issue in IE 6

A friend made me aware of a problem with the way this blog displays in Internet Explorer 6. If you're using IE 6, you'll probably see a gap at the end of the first post on the main page that's not supposed to be there.

This isn't a big deal, but if it bothers you, you might want to upgrade to the latest version of IE. Or try Firefox. It's a good browser, and it's free.

2009 UPDATE: This blog has a new (purple) theme, but I'm told the new theme also doesn't work properly with IE 6. I apologize for this. The IE 6 browser has a bad reputation.

Many of the photos on this blog will look better in Firefox than in Internet Explorer. I use Firefox and I definitely recommend it.

Introducing the new Royal News Blog!

I've had several days of webmaster headaches (I won't bore you with the very boring details), so there will be no Royal Week in Review this week.

However! I can offer you a link to my newly relocated and quite improved Royal News Blog.

The blog has been around (on TypePad) for a few years, but I haven't said much about it because I use it mainly to organize and track the syndicated news articles, photos, and videos published on the Royalty.nu site.

But the blog's move to WordPress lets me do a lot more with it. The posts are now tagged and searchable, so you should find it easier and more fun to browse there now, even if you don't know much about the world's current royal families… yet.

On the blog you'll find royal news from around the world, including British royal news articles that are no longer available on Royalty.nu's British Royal News page. Links to old photos and videos about world royalty will also remain on the blog after they've vanished from the main Royalty.nu site.

However, you won't find many links to other news sites on the blog. For a complete look at current royal news you can visit the Royalty.nu News page. I think the two sites compliment each other nicely now.

So check the Royal News Blog out and, if you feel like it, leave a comment to tell me what you think! It's still under construction, and I'll be working over the next few weeks to get things up to date.

If you have been linking to the old version of the blog, please update your links because that will be going offline very soon. And I apologize for removing the old RSS feed without warning — I know some people were using that. I haven't added a link to the new RSS feed yet because I have to set it up at Feedburner, but I will try to do that soon.

The NEW new Royal News Blog!

Welcome to the Royal News Blog at its NEW new location!

I recently moved the blog (from its original location on TypePad) to WordPress.com, but that only lasted a few hours because I soon realized WordPress.com wouldn't let me use javascript. No javascript would mean no royal news photos, so it was goodbye WordPress.com and hello RoyalNewsBlog.com!

Please update your bookmarks, because the old Royal News Blog on TypePad will soon be taken offline.

I know the blog looks bare right now. That's temporary. I have to find a theme and get things organized here.

Ideas? Suggestions? What do YOU want from the Royal News Blog that isn't out there already? Please share!

This blog offers only a taste of what the World of Royalty has to offer. If you want to see all of the latest royal news from around the world, visit Royalty.nu's Royal News page!
