Here is a brief biography from the official Sealand website.
"Giorgio Carbone, a flower merchant turned prince, died Nov. 25 at his home in Seborga, the medieval town near the Italian Riviera that he and 300-odd followers declared a sovereign state."
Sealand — a former British sea fort located off the coast of England — recently caught fire, but its self-proclaimed royal family has vowed to rebuild their artificial island "principality." (Sorry, the link to a news article about the vow to rebuild has expired.)
Here's Wikipedia's entry on Sealand.
